On 21st December, scientists revealed the finding of a perfectly preserved dinosaur embryo from at least 66 million years ago that was about to emerge from its egg like a chicken. The toothless theropod dinosaur, whose fossil was unearthed in Ganzhou, southern China, was officially named "Baby Yingliang". Baby Yingliang's head was located below its body, with its feet on each side and back curved, a position not previously seen in dinosaurs but comparable to that of modern birds. The central nervous system regulates the behavior, which is known as "tucking" in birds. To keep their heads stable when hatching, chicks tuck their heads under their right wing. Embryos that fail to tuck have a higher chance of death from an unsuccessful hatching.
