South Africa was the first country to announce the discovery of the new covid-19 varient named 'Omicron'.The varient has been deemed 'varient of concern' by the World Health Organisation and it is said to be more transmissive than the Delta varient. South Africa feels as though she is being punished for discovering the varient as many counties have banned flights from South Africa. The foreign affairs ministry said that Africa is being punished for its ability to detect new varients quicker.The ministry also said that the varient was also discovered in other parts of the world,in countries which have had no recent links to Southern Africa.Israel and Belgium also said they discovered the varient in their counties after South Africa. The Government insists that global parthners should be happy as they are being able to keep up with South Africa in terms of managing the pandemic. South Africa is the worst hit country in Africa with near 3 million cases and 90,000 deaths.
