The World Health Organization denominated Omicron as a “variant of concern” as it is more contagious than the presiding Delta variant. The resolution by several countries worldwide to forbid flights from South Africa after the detection of Omicron "is akin to punishing South Africa for its advanced genomic sequencing and the ability to detect new variants quicker," stated the foreign affairs ministry in a statement. It also said brilliant science should be appreciated, not punished. Moreover, the ministry denoted that new variants were detected in other countries worldwide, and those cases did not have any connection to South Africa. However, those results are grievous from South Africa. After South Africa, Israel and Belgium proclaimed about the exposure of Omicron cases in their country correspondingly. The Government asserted that the capability to examine and its ramped-up vaccination program of South Africa supported by an excellent scientific association shall solace their international collaborators that likewise them, South Africa is also trying to manage the epidemic.
