Omicron, the new variant of Covid 19 has been declared as the “Variant of Concern” by WHO and South Africa is the first country to detect it. But it seems that this sheer scientific technological advantage of detecting new variants of South Africa have become a curse rather than a blessing. As soon as South Africa spread the news of Omicron variant, other countries started to disconnect their operations and flights with South Africa because Omicron is much more dangerous than the Delta variant. Everyone assumed that South Africa is the origin of the Omicron Variant although none of the Omicron case reports pointed towards South Africa. Meanwhile Israel and Belgium also reported the detection of Omicron but they were not treated the way everyone treated South Africa. As South Africa is still asking for assistance from other countries, they are in the worst position in Africa with 2.95 cases and 89,783 deaths so far.
