In light of the 50th anniversary of Bangladesh-UK's diplomatic relationship, UK High Commissioner Robert Cha19tterton Dickson stated the transition of Bangladesh into a positive and developing nation, he added that the UK is very proud to be a part of this positive transition. He recalled the historic moments of 1972 when Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman went to meet UK Prime Minister Edward Heath before returning to his newly-born home from Pakistan jail. The UK has always been playing a key role in the developing arch of Bangladesh. From giving relief contributions to aiding in research, developments and funding, the relationship between the two countries became sweeter and more friendly over the years. The biggest example would be the large number of Bangladeshi natives living in various parts of the country which stands today as 6,00,000. The high commissioner in his statements also expressed that Bangladesh can be termed as a role model of positive change and the future is coming with lots of new possibilities.
