Peanut became one of the key crops in the Rangpur area when the river erision and water level decreased. According to the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) in Kurigram, some 40,000 char farmers plant peanuts near the Brahmaputra River. Peanut farming was a godsend to people living in rural areas. They can support their family by selling their produce. The largest peanut market in Rangpur is almost never seen in the same place for two years in a row. The market is always set up near a boat base, which shifts every year according to the river's level. This year's event will take hosted at Faluar Char.
