Peanut became one of the key crops in the Rangpur area when the river erision and water level decreased. Around 40,000 char farmers plant peanuts along the Brahmaputra River, according to the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) in Kurigram. Peanut farming was a boon to individuals who lived in remote regions. They are able to provide for their families by selling the produce. Rangpur's largest peanut market is nearly never seen in the same location for two years in a row. The market is always set up near to a boat base that moves every year depending on the river's height. It will be held in Faluar Char this year. It was established last year in Jorgachh Char.. for wholesalers from all over the country to come buy their produce at affordable prices. People who come to buy huge quantities of peanuts can export the crop by boat or truck to their selected locations. Peanuts are planted in the middle of October and harvested from the end of December to the beginning of January. The market season started the first week of January and will end the first week of March. The riverfront market is open twice a week and sells roughly 150 to 200 tonnes of crop every day.
